Here are a couple of literacy centers that you can do with your students right now...no prep.
Reading the Room is always a big hit. Students use a pointer and walk around the room and read all the words they see. Use a clipboard to record words. They can search for words that start with "Tt" or words that have five letters, six letters etc. There are so many ways to differentiate.
Buddy Reading is a time when students pick a friend and a book that they can read together. They can each read a page or a student on a higher reading level can read to the other student. This is good for fluency practice.
Act out favorite story book or poem and build comprehension skills. One student can read the book. These students are acting out a poem. Students take turns with reading and being characters in the book.
I am a new teacher and these are great ideas that I can use. I have everything that you suggested and this will help during center time.
ReplyDeleteNew or seasoned, it is always good to be ready and have material right under your finger tips.
